Ohaneze Ndigbo Malaysia elects New Executives

OHANEZE Ndigbo, Malaysia,- an Umbrella Association of Igbos living and working in Malaysia on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia elected its newly elected executives that will pilot its affairs for the next two years.

It would be recalled that the Ohaneze Ndigbo Malaysia which came into existence in 2009 was disbanded in 2010 following violent electoral campaign and irreconcilable difference between the major elements of the body. However, in 2013 the group was revived with clear 2 year agenda to restructure the Organization and enthrone democratically elected Govt.

In the election that lasted for about Four hours, Comrade Onyebuchi Diboh, a former Financial Secretary of the Organization who is the Incumbent Interim President emerged as the President General While Mr. Nnaemeka Afunwa (Single), who was returned Unopposed emerged Secretary General

Comrade Diboh from Anambra  won the Presidency, after defeating his Opponent Chief Elvis Onyeabor from Enugu in a hotly contested election by votes from 32 delegates against his rival that secured votes from 9 delegates.

Announcing the results, Mr Chimezi Nwosu who headed the electoral committee thanked all the members who contributed in making the historic election a success and wished the new executives a successful tenure.

In his Post election Speech, Diboh pledged an all inclusive leadership for the organisation and called for support from every Onye Igbo in Malaysia for the new Executive to achieve the objectives of the organisation. He therefore dedicated the victory to his Rival whom he praised for his exemplary show of sportsmanship.

“Today, I am proud to be called an Igbo man. Together we have made history. This is not my victory as we would marry my manifesto with that of my brother Elvis for the betterment of our people. For the manner we conducted this election, I am therefore dedicating this victory to my Rival Elvis for his exploit today,’’ Diboh  said.

Earlier,  Chief Elvis Onyeabor, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the elections, which he declared to be free and fair. He called on the New Executive to improve from what's on ground so as to move the Igbos of Malaysia forward.  Another Chieftain of the meeting, Chief Richard Anyanwu(Ihechidere) thanks all the contestant for making the Igbos proud with the manner they conducted themselves. He however, implored the newly Elected President to ensure that his laudable manifesto would be implemented as he and others would use it to checkmate them." I want to thank everyone that participated in this election. Today we have indeed made history. My advise to New President is to make sure he implement his blueprints as people like me will judge him on that" He said

Other members of the organization also lauded the peaceful conduct of the election and urged the new executive not to disappoint the people. The meeting ended with funfair as convoy of the delegates were seen heading into the city popular Americana African Restaurant in Kempong area for further Victory Celebration that lasted all Night.
