STEALING BY TRICK IN ANAMBRA STATE
By Emeka Egoigwe Osi
My likeness or if you like followership of Peter Obi is never in question because he is the hero of modern Anambra State. However, I equally like Obiano as a person, but find it difficult to follow his unsound governmental policies which have bordered mainly on braggadocio, mediocrity and nepotism.
His personal life choices not withstanding, I'll begin to support him any day he shows seriousness with governance of the state in terms of provision of sustainable development devoid of nepotism, mediocrity, wastefulness, thievery and pilferage.
The truth is that the govt of Obiano is stealing by trick in Anambra State. If he is not busy stealing the commissioned projects of Peter Obi administration, like the recently recommissioned Revenue House, he is busy stealing the funds of Anambra State under the pretence of expanding projects that were 85% complete before he inherited them and with the money for their completion already set aside. The Agulu Lake Resort is a typical example.
A world class hotel that was more than 85% complete before he took over, he has stolen #2billion naira of our money under the pretence of expanding it. Chai!! A hotel project that was initially costing the state #2.3billion naira has suddenly been hiked to #4.3billion (according to Phil Chinwuba, his latest hireling) under the guise of expansion only that there is no expansion going on there but minor modifications that ordinarily, under Peter Obi, would not have cost more than #200million.
At the end of the day, he has stolen both the credit for the project and our money by trick. It's really pathetic and very disturbing that we are fast degenerating back into the abyss. Well meaning Anambrarians have started asking again whether Anambra state is cursed or we are the cause? Posterity will never forgive Akpokuedike Aguleri should he sink this completely rejuvenated state handed over to him on a platter of gold. We are all watching and taking notes.
It is quite instructive that the only few projects going on in the state today are the three aesthetic flyovers he is building at Awka portion of the Enugu-Onitsha express way which purpose is purely aesthetics because they are not meant to reduce traffic jam(Hardly do you see any traffic jam at the portions where the flyovers are being built), and the multiple road projects in his hometown of Aguleri. Such nepotism was last experienced in Anambra State under Ngige's administration. Unfortunately, we are back to the dark days. And if care is not taken, we will continue to spiral backwards. God forbid!!
